Principal's Weekly Message- August 18, 2023

Campus Updates & Reminders:

Welcome to the start of the 2023-2024 school year! In just a few short days, we will be embarking on a year of learning, making and strengthening our relationships, and growing together.

Parent Portal is now open for you to view your child’s class placement. Attached is a copy of our school map so you can see where your child should report on the first day of school. We will also have a hard copy of the map posted at our front office for the first day of school.

As you get into your drop-off and pick-up routines, please make sure you are aware of our traffic and parking rules.

  1. The traffic loop is only for quick drop-off and pick-up. There is no parking and exiting the vehicle in this area.
  2. If you wish to go on campus with your child, please park in the guest lot (do not park in STAFF spaces) or in the surrounding neighborhood.
  3. There is no parking along Alhambra or Loyola Drives.
  4. The next-door parking lot is for ELC families and staff only.
  5. Please make sure to take special care with the numerous pedestrians, bikers, and crossing guards around our campus.

Here is a review of our morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up procedures:

  1. Campus opens at 8:10. Students arriving at school at this time may either go to the MPR for breakfast or wait on the blacktop on their class line. There is no recess during this time.
  2. At 8:20, classrooms open. Students on the blacktop will report to their classrooms.
  3. At 8:30, school instruction begins. Any student arriving after 8:30 must check-in at the front office. A “second chance breakfast” will be available for any student needing one at first recess.
  4. After drop-off and during afternoon pick-up, we ask that families do not gather in the classroom wings as we are maximizing instructional time with our students.
  5. All students should be picked up right after school. If your child is enrolled in an after-school program (DKK or Catalyst), they should report to their assigned area immediately after school.
  6. For safety and supervision, students are not permitted to stay on campus after school without an adult. This is especially important if you have a child dismissed in primary grades and another child dismissed in our intermediate grades; students may not wait alone on campus.

There has been a slight shift to our bell schedule. Please review the bell schedule on our website or using the attached file.
