Campus Updates & Reminders:
As you plan ahead on your family calendars, don’t forget to mark that there is NO SCHOOL on Friday, April 25, 2025.
On May 30th we will be inviting the City of Davis Police on campus for our annual Bike Rodeo at our school as part of our school’s bicycle skills program. The bike rodeo is a simple and fun activity to teach your child important bicycle safety skills. The event consists of a number of stations that allow your child to learn and practice proper bicycling skills. In order for your child to participate, the following is required:
- You must review, sign, and return the attached release by (add date of the rodeo).
- Children must bring their own bike, wear a bicycle helmet and shoes that fasten, no flip-flops allowed.
- Volunteers are needed for this event. Please email our Active-4-Me coordinator, Kat Richmond, at [email protected] if you would like to sign up.
Final yearbook sales are here! Online sales will close on Wednesday April 23rd. Order yours today at https://BuyTheYearbook.com with school ID# 723128.
PTO Message:
Per our KPTO bylaws, all PTO board positions are open for nominations each year. If you want to get more involved and gain a deeper understanding of everything that is happening at our school, consider nominating yourself or a friend for one of our board positions.
Board Positions: President, Vice President of Communications, Secretary, Treasurer, Fundraising Chair, Auditor, Parliamentarian
This year we are fortunate to already have some candidates for these positions, but we want all Korematsu PTO members to feel like they can get involved. If there are two or more candidates for the same position, we will have a run-off.
Please email the Parliamentarian ([email protected]) if you are interested or would like more information. Nominations must be received by Wednesday, April 23. We will vote on board members at our May 21 PTO meeting.
Auction Update:
The auction is just a week away, but there is so much to do right now!
Not attending in person but excited to do some shopping? The online auction opens this Sunday, April 20th. PTO will send out a link to the items when they go live. Get ready to shop unique experiences, curated baskets and great deals!
If your child has been selling raffle tickets, they are due next Thursday, April 24th by 3:10. Students can earn a bonus recess or pizza party for selling tickets, and the class with the most sales earns a frozen treat! So far, Hansen’s 4th grade class is in the lead with Ms. Azzarello’s K/1st in second! Keep selling those tickets!
Social Justice Corner:
Every month, our students learn one of the “ABCs of Social Justice”. This month, our word is empathy. Empathy is the ability to recognize and deeply listen to another person’s story or experiences and connect them to common understandings and emotions. Ask your student how they have practiced empathy during the month of April.
