Weekly Howler: Week of October 13, 2025
Campus Updates & Reminders:
Next week is our annual Fall Safety Week. During this time, we will run through all of our emergency drills with students. The purpose of this week is
to make sure all students and staff know how to respond in the event of a real emegency. While these are meant to help curb any anxiety that these
procedures might induce, it’s understandable that students may still have big feelings about these events. Take this weekend to talk with your
student about any questions they might have going into the week of drill. Here is a brief summary of the drills being practiced and their purpose/use:
Shelter-in-place: used when students need to remain in their classrooms and there is no immenent threat on campus.
Lock down: used when students must remain in their classroom while there is an immenent threat on campus.
Evaucation: used in the event of fires, gas leaks, etc. when students and staff need to clear the campus.
Duck and Cover: used in the event of an earthquake, tornado, etc.
Person down: used in the event that there is a medical emergency in a classroom and support needs to be dispatched to assist.
During safety week we will also be testing our emergency communications system. Keep an eye out for a text message from the district ensuring
your enrollment in the emergency notification service.
