Campus Updates & Reminders:

Our 3rd through 6th graders are chugging along with state testing! Some classes will be continuing with testing into this week. Make ups will follow for any students who have missed their assigned window.

 

PTO Message:

Frozen Fridays are back! Come purchase a frozen treat after school on Friday from now until June 5th. Treats will be for sale in Mace Ranch Park, just outside of the playground gate. All proceeds will go towards next year’s 6th grade science camp field trip.

Social Justice Corner:

For this month’s Speak Up Assembly series, we are celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month. Let’s learn about the second of our social justice icons this month, Brandon Marshall:

  • Former NFL player originally from Pittsburgh, PA
  • After retiring, he shared that he was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, which impacted his mental health and wellbeing
  • Began working to reduce the negative image of mental health needs and encourages other to get help
  • 2018: started a campaign called “Who Can Relate?” to raise awareness about mental health
  • Also founded Project 375 that offers trainings to communities on how to support people struggling with mental health
  • Received many honors including Child Mind Institute Change Maker Award, National Council Speak Up Speak Out Award, MLK Jr. Award for Courage
