Campus Updates & Reminders:
Thank you to all families that were able to attend our Back to School Night event this week! We encourage you to continue to keep in contact with your child's teacher as the year goes on to celebrate the wonderful things that our coyotes will be accomplishing this year.
Next week we will be welcoming a new friend, Cyrus! Cyrus is a certified therapy dog who has been working in the elementary school setting for the last 2 years. He was previously going through training as a seeing eye dog, but was TOO CALM for this role and needed a career change. Thursdays will be "Therapy Dog Thursdays". If your child has an aversion or fear of dogs, please make sure to let your teacher or Mrs. Andrews know so we can avoid those classrooms for introductions. If you see Cyrus (probably laying down asleep), feel free to give him hugs and pets; those are his favorites! We are excited to have Cyrus join the team as an opportunity to support the social emotional needs of our students and staff!
Please continue to be aware of our traffic safety plan at drop off and pick up. We are noticing an increase in walkers who are being dropped off in traffic on Alhambra and Loyola. This is a major safety concern as we have students entering very busy roadways trying to get to school. Please continue to use the traffic loop AND crosswalk in the parking lot in the morning and afternoon.
PTO Message:
PTO is looking for members and donations! If you are interested in being a participating member and/or making a donation to PTO, you can do so at https://korematsupto.org. This is a great way to stay involved in the school's success.
Frozen Fridays are continuing next week. Popsicles and ice cream will be for sale for $1 after school at the cafeteria picnic benches. PTO will also have tshirts and car magnets for sale at this event.
Don't feel like cooking? Take out Tuesday is back! Grab dinner at Chipotle on September 20th between 4:00 and 8:00pm. Use the code "BCKKH4A" when ordering and portions of the money will be donated back to our school.
All are welcome to the upcoming monthly PTO meeting. This will be held in the library on September 21st at 7:00pm.
