Principal's Weekly Message- January 27, 2023

Campus Updates & Reminders:

We had a beautiful week of Kindness! Students were engaging in wonderful, authentic interactions with peers and staff as we made this a focus this week. Our Kindness campaign will continue all year long as we continue to make Korematsu a place of warmth and welcome for all.

Monday is a very special day at our school: Fred T. Korematsu day. We will honor our school's namesake and the work that he did to encourage overcoming injustice and speaking up. Students and staff will be participating in an assembly filled with honoring Mr. Korematsu, collaborative songs, and recognizing other ways that we can follow in the footsteps of him and others to continue to Speak Up! If you would like to attend one of the assemblies, you are invited to join us at 9:15 or 1:45. Please just check-in at the office prior to heading to the MPR.

February is Black History Month! This is a great opportunity to learn about the experiences and the accomplishments of the Black community. If you are looking for resources to support conversations with your child, you can find information at https://blackhistorymonth.gov/ and https://www.pbs.org/parents/black-history-month.
