Campus Updates & Reminders:
Fred T. Korematsu Day was a huge hit on Monday! All students, staff, and some families were able to join together with music, speakers, and the message to "Speak Up!" A special thank you to Ms. Sobottka and Molly for putting the event together and keeping this tradition alive. Our celebration was followed by some of our students performing our school song, "What Can One Little Person Do?" at the DJUSD board meeting on Thursday.
Almost all of our students have completed their iReady assessments for the second diagnostic. Early results are showing some great progress in reading and math. Keep up the great work!
A friendly reminder that students are not to bring toys to school. We have seen an influx of small trinkets and pokemon cards coming in backpacks. It has begun to create distractions in the classrooms and conflicts on the playground. Please double check your child's things and remind them to keep the fun things at home.
Girls on the Run is a new program that we are bringing to Korematsu! This is a program for 3rd-5th grade girls. While training for a 5k, students will also work on self-confidence. Sign ups will begin on Monday, February 6th. If your child is interested, please sign them up at http://www.gotrsac.org. There is a registration fee and scholarships are available.
