Campus Updates and Reminders:
Week one is in the books and it was amazing! Kudos to all of our students for coming back ready to learn. Our staff planned out the "Week of Welcome" for our students with the focus being on community building and class/school protocols. Ask your students what they learned about our school's P.A.W.S. system this week. Next week, classrooms will be focusing on our first P.A.W.S. step with the "Week of Kindness".
Now a kudos for our families! I know the emails and robo-calls regarding traffic have been coming out frequently this week, but I am so appreciate your attentiveness to this safety concern. Each day has brought a smoother system. Our traffic loop continues to be a focus area for us. Please remember that this loop is for quick drop off and pick up. Parking in the traffic loop is not allowed, including before after school dismissal occurs. I appreciate your continued support as we work together to keep all of our kids safe.
Covid continues to be present in our community. Please report Covid absences to our front office as they arise. DJUSD is sending out daily notifications of Covid case numbers to all families. The district still strongly recommends the use of masks.
PTO Messages:
We desperately need a new Active-4-Me Coordinator! Without a coordinator (and more morning bike scanners) we will not be able to continue with this valuable program that sends you a message when your child arrives safely at school. The coordinator role requires about an hour a week (most of which can be done at home). Scanners only need to be on campus for about 20 minutes in the morning. Volunteer for one morning or several! Ideally, we'd have two scanners each morning. If you are interested in being the Active 4 Me coordinator or a scanner, please email Ruby Germain at [email protected].
Frozen Fridays return to campus next Friday, September 2! Stop by the lunch tables after school on Friday to purchase a popsicle or ice cream for just $1.
