Principal's Weekly Howler: September 16, 2024

Campus Updates & Reminders:

Thank you to all families that were able to attend our annual Back to School Night event this week. It was great to see so many of you get the opportunity to sit in your child’s seat and learn about what the year has in store.

Our school Climate Committee will be up and running in the next few weeks. This committee meets every other month with the principal, school staff, and other family members to discuss the current climate of our campus. If you are interested in joining this committee, please email Mrs. Andrews at [email protected]. You will receive a link to the online meetings when you have requested to be a part of the committee.

PTO Message:

We love volunteers and have lots of great opportunities to get involved that work with many schedules. The PTO is made up entirely of volunteers- family members like you! It takes a village to plan, organize, and support our school community. Help with administrative tasks on your own time, volunteer for a short event shift, or take on leadership roles. Sign up for opportunities at https://korematsupto.org/volunteer

The online spirit store is now live and won’t be open for long! If you are interested in purchasing some Korematsu gear, you can do so by visiting this website: https://www.rallyfactory.com/korematsu/elementary/page/2/

Social Justice Corner:

This month we learned about the beautiful dancing of the Hispanic culture called ballet folklorico, which means “folkloric dance”! These dances are highlighted with colorful dresses and lively music from the Hispanic culture. Various states in Mexico have their own traditions of folklorico dance that tell a different story. Take a look at a northern California folklorico group that was featured during our assembly: https://youtu.be/pLg9NI22lR8?si=JOnfUQdL-_2-DEqQ
