Principal's Weekly Howler: June 9, 2025

Campus Updates & Reminders:

Can you believe we are about to enter the last week of school? It’s been a wonderful year of learning and growing for our students. We are excited to wrap up the last few days with your kids.

Thursday will be a minimum day and we will be on a modified schedule.

  • TK and Kindergarten: students will be on “Wacky Wednesday” schedule (8:30-11:50)
  • 1st-6th: students will be on a minimum day schedule (8:30-12:30).
  • Lunch will be served 12:30-1:00 with staff supervision. Any student staying for lunch must be picked up no later than 1:00.
  • SPARK will not be in session on the last day of school.

PTO Message:

Our end of the year Active4Me prize table will be up and running after school on Wednesday at the lunch tables.

Mark your calendars for the “Welcome Back to the Pack” Picnic on August 22nd!

Social Justice Corner:

This month we highlighted two social justice icons that have helped with the Pride movement.

Harvey Milk:

  • First openly gay man to be elected to public office in California; SF Board of Supervisors
  • Previously served in the military but was kicked out because they learned that he was gay
  • Was an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and fought for equality for all
  • Milk was killed for being gay and his work for LGBTQ+ equal rights
  • Awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his work towards equal rights

Sharice Davids:

  • In 2018 became first openly gay Native American woman elected to Congress
  • 2019: Pride 50 Award for “trailblazing individuals who actively ensure society remains moving towards equality, acceptance and dignity for all queer people”
  • Wrote a children’s book about her life called Sharice’s Big Voice
