Campus Updates & Reminders:

Spring picture day is coming up on February 26th. This is an optional picture day for students. Families can either order online at mydorian.com or you can use the paper order form on picture day.  Only students that have a money envelope or placed an online order will be photographed on picture day.  REMINDER: The online website closes down at 9:00 AM the morning of picture day.  The photographers will have a list of the online orders.

GOTR will be returning this Spring at Korematsu Elementary, starting the week of March 3rd for 3rd-5th grade girls! Practices will be on campus Mondays and Thursdays from 3:15-4:45p (please note the change) and will run for a total of 8 week (no GOTR the week of Spring break).

The Spring Season will feature a new curriculum “Hello Mountain movers!” which makes every participant have a whole new experience this season! The season will end with a celebratory 5K on May 10, 2025 at Land Park with other GOTR groups in the greater Sacramento region. GOTR t-shirt, water bottle, 5k entry, race bib and finisher’s medal are included in the program registration.

Cost: $185/child, if you need financial assistance to participate, scholarships are available during the registration process.

Social Justice Corner:

Let’s learn about some Black History Month social justice icons! Next up is Jackie Robinson:

  • Wonderful overall athlete, playing four sports, including college football
  • Fought against racism when in the military during WWII when he refused to sit at back of segregated army bus
  • Ended segregation in Major League Baseball by joining the Brooklyn Dodgers after 60 years of segregation
  • Continued to fight against and segregation after retiring from baseball, by participating in sit-ins and encouraging Black Americans to become voters
  • Awards include: Presidential Medal of Freedom, Congressional Gold Medal, “Jackie Robinson Day” celebrated by MLB every April 15
