Principal Message. November 2, 2020.

Hello Korematsu Families,

I hope that everyone had a safe weekend. We are officially in November, which is a busy month for teachers as they prepare for parent/teacher conferences along with keeping up on lessons and instruction for students. Our goal is to continue to stay flexible as we all manage remote teaching/learning and now parent/teacher conferences via zoom! Here are a few updates for the week:

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Conferences are scheduled to take place the week of November 16-20, 2020 for all Transitional Kindergarten-6th grade families. Conferences will be in a virtual format and your student’s teacher will send a Zoom invitation for your meeting. Classroom Teachers may be adjusting their live synchronous and asynchronous instruction during the week of conferences in order to accommodate parent schedules for conferencing. If needed, conference appointments may be scheduled during morning hours or before or after the Elementary Conference Week.

This Fall conferences are especially critical for parents/guardians and teachers to reinforce this important partnership to build student success. In addition to your teacher sharing feedback about academics and social-emotional skills, they will be asking for your feedback. Specifically, they will ask how your student is experiencing Distance Learning, what your child enjoys, and how your child best learns. Trimester 1 Report Cards will be shared electronically either through an email as an attachment or through virtual screen sharing by the teacher.

As a parent/guardian, you know your child better than anyone. If you have concerns of any type, please share them with the teacher. Your teachers are dedicated to collaborating with you to promote positive outcomes for all students and help them thrive. If you have thoughts or questions before coming to the conference, please consider sharing them with your teacher in advance. This will support the collaborative effort with your child’s teacher and help them think of possible responses prior to meeting.

Distance Learning Family Survey

There is a new family survey on the DJUSD website. It is open through Sunday November 8th. Please go to the following link to access the survey:
