Principal Message - April 4, 2022
Posted on 04/04/2022
Dear Korematsu families,

My name is Heidi Perry, and I will be your interim principal through the end of the school year. I have worked in DJUSD for 32 years. Most recently, I was the administrator in charge of COVID testing and vaccinations for the school district. Prior to that, I was the principal at Willett Elementary School for 12 years. I love the Davis community and look forward to spending time on the Korematsu campus this spring.

I will try to send updates once a month, and possibly more as things come up. Below are some upcoming events:

Wednesday, April 6 ~ 4th and 5th grade Science Fair in the MPR from 6 - 8PM
Tuesday, April 12 ~ Running Club starts Please see the PTO website for more information:
Tuesday, April 19 ~ Site Council 3:30 - 5:00 pm via Zoom
Tuesday, April 19 ~ PTO - 7:00 - 8:00 pm via Zoom
Saturday, April 30 ~ PTO Auction ~ 6:30 - 8:30 PM via Zoom

As you may have heard, effective April 11th, masking indoors at DJUSD schools will be optional, but strongly recommended. Look for messaging coming soon from our district regarding this change. Please remember to remind your students to be respectful of individual decisions surrounding masking once this is in place.

Next week, we will do our required emergency drills on campus. These drills include the Shelter in Place, Lockdown and Fire Drills.

Our third through sixth graders will be taking the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) testing in May. The link to more information about these tests is here: . Students will be assessed in Math and English/Language Arts. Fifth graders will also be taking the CAST test, which is the Science section of the CAASPP testing. A schedule will be coming soon from your child’s teacher.

I am enjoying getting to know the Korematsu community and look forward to seeing you on campus!

Heidi Perry
